Objectives: The Medical Summer Broadening Programme is a two- week course that exposes students to the principles of medical and health sciences through a range of activities and visits. The programme aims to broaden their horizons and allow them to experience university learning through the engagement with our teachers and students and participation in campus life. It is an opportunity for those who are interested in pursuing a medical and nursing career to gain insights into the medical and healthcare profession. Course structure: The theme for this year is . The programme will look at the relationship between health and disease in different subjects in the context of the flu virus, such as Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chinese medicine, Pharmacy and Public health, etc. Through the programme, students will gain insights into the various medical specialties and form basic understanding of the clinical discipline. The programme hopes to raise students’ awareness of health issues and the importance of keeping a healthy lifestyle. During the two- week programme, students will participate in lectures, seminars, problem- based learning tutorials, laboratory practical sessions, clinical skills and clinical interpersonal skills sessions, visits, group projects and presentations. Students may also choose to stay in a hall of residence. The programme will conclude with a high table dinner which certificates of attendance and awards for outstanding performance will be presented. Applicants will receive an official letter by post shortly. Hong Kong Summer Camp Round Up. Inspired by the Swedish early childhood education program. Assessment: Students will be assessed through their attendance, performance during small group learning activities, group projects and presentations. Participants are required to attend all scheduled activities. Approval to take leave of absence will only be granted on medical grounds with the provision of valid medical certificates or in very exceptional circumstances.
